Look at this
blog entry, Mary Beth. It's about a circular spice holder that she picked up at a thrift shop and someone suggested turning it into a mini-cupcake holder!
If your's are cones, you'll have to have a holder with holder the right size of course.
Could your arrive early and frost them after you arrived. That way they wouldn't actually need to be kept upright and could be stacked on top of one another for transportation in a covered container.
I do not know the proportions of your cones, but something you might be able to do is cut styrofoam slabs to fit snuggly in the bottom of one or more rectangular covered containers. Then, using a tool, drill holes to fit the bottom of the cones, leaving adequate distance between. Set the cones down inside the holes and Ta Da!
The slabs would have to be very snug inside the container. Maybe the could be secured to the bottom of the container with those little squares for hanging posters, Sticky mounts?
Then the containers would have to be secured in the car in a way that they don't slip and slide around. I like to find cardboard boxes that are an exact fit then pack things around them so the don't slide.
You could also cut holes in box lids like shoe box lids to accommodate the cones and secure those inside the containers. The bottom of a flat box like a beer or soda flat, maybe.
I don't know. I usually depend on making what I need rather than finding it.
