My son was almost completely potty trained during the day and then my sil was killed in a horrible car accident. He was close to her and the trama of the event and her funeral set him back in so many ways but potty training seemed to be hit the hardest. It has been three months and he is finally starting to go on the potty again during the day. I haven't tried him in underwear at night yet but he has been taking naps in underwear sometimes and staying dry. I'm not sure I'm ready to take the next step with him but I'm just glad he's showing interest in it again. He's over 3 1/2 and was showing no desire at all to potty train.
How horrible for your family, Rachel. I'm glad you're letting your son handle the aftermath of his reactions at his own pace, and not pressuring him.

All the best.
He's just as strong willed as I am so arguing with him is pointless Smile He's been doing really well during the day and he's starting to take naps in underwear and stay dry. I'm excited. I was starting to think he was going to go to kindergarten in diapers! I'm a little afraid to take the next step and let him sleep in underwear. He's still wet in the mornings so I think I'll just leave it for now.
Sounds good. I well remember a dear friend of mine whose only child, a daughter, refused to take interest in potty training - and she was the ripe old age of nearly four! Other things were happening in her life; and sure enough, when she was ready, she just took off her pull-ups and that was that. (Talk about stubborn)
They really do run on their own time frame. He's been doing pretty well. I just need to be better at talking him to put underwear on first thing in the morning. He pokes around and doesn't want to get dressed so it's halfway through the morning before he is wearing underwear. We'll get there I'm sure.
