Well for me and my life, it has defiantly been about the phase I had completed or the new beginning of the next phase. I didn't get showered with gifts and neither do my sisters or my son. I do celebrate achievement, of any kind. Sure, ok, you just "graduated" from preschool, but it is never a bad thing to praise our children. They will feel even more special and that may mean closer to us, their parents. Which in the long run, is something we all would like!
My Daughter is graduating preschool this month and we are having a "party" for her at her request she said that she just wanted to have her cousin's and friends over to play. It will be very simple Hot Dogs, chips and of course a graduation cake. We have told everyone not to bring a gift, this is not what it is for it is just for us to celebrate her moving on to the next step. We are very proud of her, anytime you go on to the next big step it should be celebrated! I think the more you notice that your child is doing something good the more they try to do.
