I am registering my 3 year old daughter for preschool this fall. It is a cooperative preschool where parent participation is required one day every two-three weeks along with a parents meeting once a month. Does anyone have experience with this type of program? Pros, Cons?

I don't have experience with that sort of thing, but it does sound great. I think parent participation is essential to good learning skills! Let us know how it goes.
I've heard of joy school where parents take turns teaching preschool in their own home. Is this similar?
Hi.........I have a few friends who have done the co-op preschool through the city and parks. They absolutely love it!!! It's in quite high demand in Santa Clarita (a suburb north of L.A.), and very hard to get into. Lots of "regular" preschoolers request parent participation as well.
Well, I did end up enrolling my daughter in the Co-op preschool and she loves it! It's great to be able to get to know all of the children she is playing with AND their parents too! It is so nice to be there during her class time as well. So many parents have no idea what goes on during a typical preschool class. Being in the classroom (only one day every couple of weeks) I get to see what she likes and doesn't like to participate in, how she interacts socially, and what we may need to reinforce at home.
If you have the time to commit to it, I highly recommend a Co-op preschool!
That is great to hear. Thanks for sharing, I will look into one!
We looked into a co-op program nearby. We've heard good things about the school and that parents/children love it. Unfortunately they wanted me to leave my son (20 months) with a sitter on my obligation days, as well as on the required fund-raising events and clean-up days. While I understand their position, it didn't really make much sense to us to sacrifice time with our son to help out. We ended up finding a regular preschool for our daughter that loves having my son around, so I can be as involved as I would have been at the co-op.
I've only heard good things about co-op programs, though. The parents involved seem to really like it. If our daughter was an only child or the youngest, I would have definitely enrolled there.
