My 4 year old daughter is in love with books! She can read at a first grade level. I'm looking for suggestions of good books for her to read, or for me to read to her and her 3 year old sister.
I just have to plug my favorite author here, David Shannon. His "No, David, No" series is cute and hilarious. My kids love it!
My daughter is also 4 (almost 5) and can also read at a first grade level. We bought her "Animal Antics" by Nora Gaydos (It's part of the "Now I'm Reading" series) and she loves it. We refused to read any of those books to her because we wanted to see how much was actual reading and how much was memorization - and she was able to read these books. A couple of them were tough because they used bigger words or blended letters, but they were also very helpful in teaching her how to read bigger words. The set that we bought (level 1) came with 10 books and about 5 stickers for each book. Each time the child reads through the whole book, they get to put a sticker in the sticker book. Believe me, that's the only reason my daughter read the books! She loves stickers. I highly recommend this set.
She also likes a book called "Buscuit" - I don't know where she put it so I can't get the author info for you. It was also designed for early readers and was a gift from a Kindergarten teacher.
