The schools here (North Texas) teach the letters in a different pattern than the traditional ABC... Does anyone know this pattern and is willing to share it? I do know that both of my older children picked up the letter recognition, sounds and other pre-reading skills from this pattern VERY easily. We worked and worked with the "traditional" order with frustrating (for me) results. We weren't expecting to have another gift so I didn't keep track of the pattern.
Any advice is appreciated.
I've heard of this before, but I don't know what it's called. I found this information:
http://www.reading-tutors.com/tips/TH_Tips_Alphabet.pdf
I don't know that it's quite what you are looking for. It does mention which letters to NOT teach together since they tend to be confusing to young children.
Hope it helps.

Thanks! There is a lot of good information on there. It tells what order NOT to teach them in, but not the preferred order TO teach them in. That is what I am finding too. Hmmm.
Thanks again! There is good info on there and that is one site I hadn't come across in my search.
I'm wondering the same thing. My son goes to daycare now but next summer I'll be staying home with him. I'm going to do preschool activities with him at home but I'm not sure what order to teach the letters. My minor in college was reading but I don't remember ever learning about letter order. Of course it's been 7 years since I graduated college (I always feel old when I stop to think about how long it's been!) so it's not all that fresh anymore! I'll have to see if I still have any of my materials from my classes.
