My daughter is almost 5 and doesn't stay dry at night. her dr. says it's because she has a very small bladder (she's 41" tall and 32 pounds).. and she sleeps very heavy.. anyone else have this problems?

There's an interesting page at
Yahoo Answers where parents talk about this very issue.
They talk about whether bed-wetting runs in the family - (ie., is it a genetic condition?) but mostly focus on solutions that have worked for them. The wet sensor alarm seems to work quite well, although others said Kegel exercises (remember that from pregnancy?) where you stop the urine flow, solved the problem.
Hope that helps.
My son, niece and a few friends, all who are over 5, have the "nightime" wetting issue. I've been told that it is not a potty training issue so much as it is biology. It's associated with heavy sleeping and heredity. My son would not wake up if a train went through his room. Plus he loves to drink so cutting him off from the liquids is really hard! A glass of milk before bed helps him sleep.
One pediatrician told me to just wait until he's "ready." I've heard of kids as old as 12 with the problem. Another one suggests the alarm within the next few years. I really don't know what to do, but would like to help my son "overcome" it soon now that he is starting Kindergarten. Anyone have a success story???
My daughter is almost 5 and won't stay dry at night. I know she CAN - she did it before for about a week. Then all of a sudden she stopped - I think it has something to do with the stress of moving across the country. I'll have to check out that Yahoo link to see if anything helps...
